Two application servers sit in front of a MySQL / NFS server and provide both reliability as well as application performance. As your traffic ramps up, we can continue to add additional app servers, split off NFS onto its own box, add in a Memcached server or beef up your database hardware. The design of every site is unique and each taxes hardware in different ways, so there is no one size fits all solution.
